About

Save money. Save time. Avoid costly mistakes in American life.

Frugal Immigrant Dad is a practical U.S. life guide by a Korean immigrant dad who hates wasting money, time, and energy.

I research the confusing parts of American life — credit cards, Costco, Amazon, DMV, TSA, insurance, taxes, HSA, 401(k), travel, parenting, and everyday family decisions — so you can save money, save time, and avoid costly mistakes.

I came to America as an immigrant and learned many things the hard way. The rules were confusing. The fine print was easy to miss. Small mistakes often cost money, time, or unnecessary stress.

Now I am a husband, a dad, and a dog dad. I care more than ever about protecting my family’s time, money, and peace of mind.

This site is where I write down what I wish I had known earlier.

I am not a lawyer, tax advisor, financial advisor, insurance agent, medical professional, government official, or representative of any company mentioned on this site. I am just a dad who reads the fine print because mistakes are expensive.

If this site helps you avoid one annoying fee, one wasted afternoon, or one costly mistake, then it is doing its job.
